Goethe Institut Chennai and Prakriti foundation present an evening of contemporary dance, THE PAST by Constanza Macras & Dorky Park & Oscar Bianchi. The production together with Hellerau - European Centre for Arts, Dresden, in co-production with Schaubühne Berlin explores the art of memory, or ars memoriae, in which memories are strongly associated with physical locations, rooms and architecture. The starting point for this performance is the city of Chennai as a concrete geographical location, as an anchor for memory, a mental picture and a cast of mind. What happens with our memories, what happens to those who still remember even when these physical places are destroyed? In order to incorporate a city-specific slant to The Past, Macras undertook an in-depth exploration of Chennaite’s past and present, so watch out for her choreographic interpretation of our city's memory.
At: Sir Mutha Venkatasubba Rao Concert Hall, 7pm. Entry passes available at Goethe-Institut Chennai/Max Mueller Bhavan.
