Although this is an age old tradition in India, yet it is relatively new in North America. It was first presented in the same way at the same venue by Pandit Ravi Shankar in August of 1976. 24 years later Chhandayan brought it back in 2000. Since then it has continued very successfully and has grown to be an event of North America.
