Prashant Tamang was born on 4 January, 1983. This year, on 23 September, he was declared the 3rd Indian Idol after receiving 70 million votes on the popular televised singing contest in which viewers vote for the participant of their choice. This December, he will be in the United States of America for a 4-city tour, making stops in Washington DC/Virginia, Boston, New York and Atlanta.
Before auditioning for the Indian Idol TV show, Prashant was an active member of the Indian Police force, Calcutta, where he also sang for the orchestra. Since winning one of the most coveted entertainment competitions in India, Prashant has remained extremely busy on tours and is still on a leave from his duty at the Police force.
