This concert of deeply meditative and contemplative dhrupad music, the oldest form of music from North India, features the master vocalist Wasifuddin Dagar. Representing the 20th unbroken generation of dhrupad singers in the Dagar family, Wasifuddin is the nephew of N. Zahiruddin Dagar and the son of N. Faiyazuddin Dagar, the late legendary Dagar Brothers. He toured with his uncle, N. Zahiruddin Dagar, and, since his uncle’s death in 1994, has carried on the Dagarvani tradition as a soloist. Accompaniment on pakhawaj (double-headed drum).
