AASAI (American Association for Social advancement of India) Inc. presents
NAYAKI ... A POETIC JOURNEY, a solo dance theater by Jothi Raghavan in Bharatanatyam style based on verses by the mystic poet Thirumangai Alwar.
Musicians from India: Vocal: G Srikanth, Mridangam: N Narayanaswamy, Flute: HS Venugopal, Veena: Revathi Ramaswamy.
Music composition: Rajkumar Bharathi
‘Nayaki’ the dance production is based on the intense love poems of the mystic poet Thirumangai Alwar. The poems are passionate and philosophical depicting the longing of the individual soul for the union with the supreme. The agony and the ecstasy of Parakala Nayaki - a lovelorn maiden, a persona that the poet assumes to express his love and longing for his beloved Narayana is the core of ‘Nayaki - A poetic journey.’
