Cast: Suman, Meena, Suhasini, Kavitha, Ashok Kumar, Sai Kiran, SanaDirection: Uday BhaskarDuration: 2 hours 12 minutes..
Synopsis: The movie is based on the legend of Vysyakuladevatha, Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameshwari, starting from her birth to how she sacrifices herself to save the pride of the Vysya community.
Movie review: From the looks of it, the movie feels like a rather gaudy theatre production shot on a digital camera. But then this is a devotional film, small budget one at that so we can't harp too much over the technicalities and craft of filmmaking, for such films are made to cater the devotional indulgences of the target audience. Unfortunately the film doesn't quite measure up on that front either ending up as a rather underwhelming spiritual experience.
The legend of Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari dates back to 4000 BC according to the movie. That was the time when Kusuma Bhupathi was the ruler of the Vysya kingdom headquartered in Penugonda. His kingdom is a part of Vengidesha that stretched across Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The Kshatriya king, Vishnu Vardhana (Sai Kiran) was the ruler of Vengidesha.
Vasavi Kanyaka (Suhasini) is the loving daughter of Kusuma Bhupathi, who begets her after many prayers due to a divine intervention after years of being childless. She is the re-incarnation of goddess Sati, the first wife of Lord Shiva and grows up to be a beautiful young lady with mastery over all fine arts and philosophy.
