Cast: Kalabhavan Mani, Nishan, Harish Raj, Jayaprakash, Achyuth Kumar, Sanjana Singh, Riyaz Khan Direction: Ganesh KamarajGenre: ThrillerDuration: 1 hour 50 minutes.
Synopsis: Six men and a woman regain consciousness in a deserted warehouse. They don't remember who they are or how they got there. Can they trust each other and will they get out of the place alive?
Movie Review: Yaarukku Theriyum is a rare movie that has brought together smaller names from the south Indian film industry. The story borrows heavily from the Hollywood flick 'Unknown' (2006), but does justice to the original and fits well into the Indian context. It deals with issues such as trust, greed, envy and pride.
Unlike the original, which was remade in Hindi as 'Acid Factory' (2009), Yaarukku Theriyum has in its plots that make it timely. The day the movie was released, 144kg of narcotic went missing from police custody in Chennai, just as it is portrayed in the movie. As the characters try to find their identity, we are told how some policemen, in nexus with businessmen, misuse their power to bring seized contraband back to the market.
Yaarukku Theriyum works well because director Kamaraj doesn't rush things. He doesn't let this hamper the pace either. Although the second half isn't as taut as the first and has an avoidable item number, the movie sticks well inside the two-hour mark, keeping the viewers engrossed. Most of the cast come out well. Kannada actors Achyuth Kumar and Harish Raj,
