Some combinations work so well that they are often repeated. Like Shankar and Rajini or Rahman and Maniratnam. Some producers are smitten with some stars after their first success together that they reserve a special place in the actor's career. Like NIC Arts Chakravarthy and Ajith. Starting from the 1997 Rasi till 2006 Varalaru, the association has produced some successful movies like these: 1) Vaali - The movie featured Ajith in a role with loads of negative shades and it pulled off a commercial success. It was one of the earlier successes of NIC Arts as producers. 2) Mugavari - The Ajith - Jyothika starrer is about a struggling musician and it tugged at numerous hearts and brought it financial acclaim as well. 3) Citizen - This magnum opus had Ajith in a dual role and was a fairly big budget venture. It did rake in moolah, thanks to the emotional narrative and songs. 4) Villain - This 2002 KS Ravikumar film where Ajith is paired opposite Meena and Kiran also won him a Filmfare award. The movie also became a box office success. 5) Varalaru - By far the last film Ajith has made with NIC arts, Varalaru was a huge success
