Cast: Kaushik, Nagarjuna, Mohan Babu, Sri Hari, Suman, Sai Kumar, Kamna Jethmalani, Sri Hari, Rohini, Sreeram Chandra
Direction: JK Bharavi
Duration: 2 hours 28 minutes
Story: The film traces the life of the 8th century Hindu philosopher Sri Jagadguru Adi Shankara (Kaushik), who propagated the doctrine of Advaita Vedanta across the sub-continent.
Movie Review: You better read up a little about the life and time of Adi Shankaracharya before you venture out to the theatre to watch this movie. For if you are counting on the movie to fill you up on the details about the life and times of one of one of the most important proponents of the philosophy of Advaita, you'd only come back even more clueless - than when you entered the movie hall i.e.
There are innumerable unauthenticated random posts about Adi Shankaracharya on the internet that offer more insight about the spiritual guru and his philosophy than this two and a half hour movie, which is a sad excuse for a biopic. If there was ever a list of the most hopeless movies ever made, this one will be a strong contender to top the list. No sarcasm.
The filmmaker sticks to the traditional account of the saint's life chronicling the journey right from his birth in Kaladi to his eventual ascent to becoming the Jagadguru - the guru of the world - aged just 32. But it is so amateurishly put together that his life is reduced to being a hotch potch of special appearances.
