Cast: Vemal, Bindu Madhavi, Soori, Singampuli, Ravi Mariya, Vinu Chakravarthy

Direction: S Ezhil

Genre: Comedy

Duration: 2 hours 17 minutes

Synopsis: Idhayakkani (Vemal) and Thamarai (Bindu) fall in love but their villages, Pulipatti and Kilipatti, have been at each other's throats for 50 years. Kani hopes to bring peace with their marriage but unfortunately, Thamarai's dad is killed by his villagers. And, now, she and her uncle Veerasamy want revenge.

Review: Ezhil's previous effort Manam Kothi Paravai (MKP) managed to succeed in the rural areas coasting on the charm of its lead actor (Sivakarthikeyan), despite being a very modest effort. But that success seems to have emboldened the director and he has now made yet another mildly amusing film that is entertaining only in fits. Aim low and play safe have become the director's mantras.

As in MKP, no event is taken too seriously here as well but the comedy here lacks any bite to make the farce truly black. Nothing illustrates this better than the scene when Thamarai's dad, Seenathana, dies right in front of his daughter's eyes. The reactions of Thamarai and Idhyakkani as he is killed are so laid-back, that it takes out every bit of drama out of the scene. There is no sense of loss and anger from the girl and no remorse or helplessness from Kani. And, within the next couple of scenes, this death just becomes just an event to drive the plot.
