Eswer Gomathi Review

Synopsis: Petty thief Eswer is mistaken for Gomathi's lover by her family members, who are big shots in their village. Despite Gomathi trying to prove the truth, they are hell bent on marrying her off to Eswer.
Review: Films centred on the premise of mistaken identity is not new to Tamil cinema but Eswer Gomathi feels redundant because it is nothing but a film full of sloppy recycled situations and jokes. We are shown that Eswer and his friend (Balasaravanan, who is the only one who seems to have a sense of comic timing in this cast and thereby becomes the film's saving grace) have swindled their partners in crime of a considerable sum of money, which they want to give to Eswer's sister, who is clearly in a bad marriage.
However, they are so careless that they leave the bag containing the money unattended on a train. And, Gomathi's family is portrayed as a bunch of nincompoops who believe everything that Eswer says. Even when their own daughter tells them that he is a thief, they are only suspicious about her! In the name of comedy, we are presented with one implausible situation after another, that you stop caring about anything. That the acting is amateurish only makes it worse. Maybe, that is why Sakthivel ends the film in a hurry;
