Namasthe Bali Movie Review - 3/7/2015 9:32:26 PM
Aju Varghese, Roma Asrani, Balu FrancisDirection: K V BijoyGenre: DramaDuration

Synopsis: Annamma and Chandy get engaged but a day before the wedding Chandy elopes, informing his mother that he will be in Bali. Annamma follows him to the island and her life changes for ever.

Review: Namasthe Bali can easily be identified as the poor, less-classy sibling of the much loved Hindi film Queen. Not only the plot, but the sequence of events and several comic moments are straight lifts from the movie with slight changes thrown in. One would feel that the director wanted to fit the plot of Queen into the mould of zany, low IQ entertainers like Housefull, garnished with a dash of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara- style tourism promotion. Unfortunately, the resultant product hardly entertains.

A shy Annamma gets engaged to the outgoing Chandy, but the boy elopes a day before the wedding. Upon finding that he has left for Bali, the distraught girl decides to find him. As Annamma lands on the island nation, situations reminiscent of Queen await her. A group of Malayalis in Bali help the hapless girl and her transformation forms the rest of the story. Roma looks stunning, both as a timid Annamma and the smart Ann. Aju, Noby and others have done justice to their roles. The film also wraps up quite fast.

Right from the start many scenes easily give you a sense of deja vu, just that this mish-mash version is unable to recreate half the effect of the original.
