Description:
The Database Administrator’s role is to design, install, monitor, maintain, and performance tune production and test databases while ensuring high levels of data availability. This individual is also responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software. Some of these activities will have to be performed after hours and on weekends to minimize downtime for users. 24/7 on-call duties for production support is required.
Responsibilities:
* Installing and configuring database systems, patches and upgrades for Oracle 10g RAC on AIX 5.3
* Creates and maintains Oracle and SYBASE userids and security roles
* Assists application developers with tuning SQL in applications and Stored Procedures
* Controls and monitors disk space allocation for multiple databases
* Provides Oracle and Sybase admin and problem resolution support for developers.
* Creates and loads new databases for testing
