Description : |
| |
* Architect and implement SQL Server solutions and related technologies in a large Windows 2000 & 2003 TCP/IP network.
* Plan and implement hardware and software upgrades to the existing SQL Server infrastructure.
* Work with local and global security teams to create, recommend and maintain SQL Server security standards.
* Develop and maintain SQL Server monitoring solutions that provide notification and maintain operational excellence.
* Support and troubleshoot as required, optimize performance, resolve production problems, and provide timely follow-up on problem reports.
* Plan, schedule, and conduct system tests, report test results, and recommend required corrective action.
* Evaluate and test new SQL Server releases and Microsoft service and security patches to determine release impact on the SQL Server production environment.
* Troubleshoot backup/recovery issues to ensure data integrity.
* Provide technical advice, guidance, and operational recommendations to team members and other IT departments for the SQL Server infrastructure and applications.
* Document SQL Server architectures and operational procedures.
* Participate in projects or responsible for complex tasks within a project to ensure cost-effective, quality solutions that meet business objectives.
* Client is running primarily Microsoft SQL Server 2000.
* Experience with upgrades to SQL Server 2005.
* Backup software is IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM).
* It is preferable that candidates have scripting knowledge in TSQL and preferably some VBScript/Perl experience including some WMI exposure.
* The position is not a development position, but does require some stored procedure knowledge.
* The position is about 50% SQL DBA and 50% Windows infrastructure support.
* The position is a production support position |
