Design Assessment & Capacity Planning ~ Develop and document Technical Assessments. Influence designs or plans to improve performance or reliability or reduce resource consumption. Develop instrumentation requirements for the project taking into account cross-project impacts (e.g. Internet and New SA Infrastructure). Get instrumentation requirements implemented by the developers as well as getting them documented. Design models and transaction flows to analyze system performance and capacity impacts. Develop capacity forecasts for Business Cases and budget (RFx) updates and at each gate in the Stage/Gate process. Design load tests to develop data on performance, capacity and stability. 9. Run load tests and gather data and analyze the data. Be able to define Best Practices for Design Assessment or Capacity Planning.
Performance Monitoring & Measurement: In this category, these items generally apply to three perspectives: the system, the application and the user. One's ability to do the item from more than one perspective is a breadth factor. 1. Develop key metrics for measuring and monitoring performance and capacity. 2. Design capacity and performance reports. 3. Develop, maintain and enhance capacity and performance reports. 4. Run on a periodic basis the capacity and performance reports. 5. Analyze reported information and identify problems. 6. Establish predictive monitoring methods/tools. 2.. Troubleshoot capacity/performance problems in all domains. 8. Provide on-call support for UNIX/MVS/NT system and respond to problem tickets. 9. Maintain S/W configurations for applications to utilize minimum resources with greatest performance. 10. Be able to define Best Practices for Performance Monitoring and Measurement.
