| |
UDB Database Administrator, 3-5 years exp. UNIX
Performs implementations, patches, upgrades and conversions of applications using DBMS software.
Performs configuration and installation of DBMS software.
Communicates with system personnel to establish a correct OS environment configuration.
Understands and uses appropriate tools for monitoring, troubleshooting, tuning, and analysis of DBMS applications and database environments.
Uses standard measurements to monitor performance and stability of DBMS applications and asociated databases.
Monitors performance of databases and identifies existing issues.
Takes ownership of problems and provides resolution as appropriate, involves peers and SMEs as necessary to resolve problems and tune the DBMS.
Prepares support documentation including backup, recovery and disaster recovery plans for the database.
Plans and implements disaster recovery and standard recovery testing using established documentation.
Reviews results and makes appropriate recommendations for changes to the customer and peers.
Establishes and maintains access security and audit trails according to the business requirements.
Participates in 24x7 on call rotation.
