The Database Administrator's role is to administer, maintain, develop and implement policies and procedures for ensuring the security, integrity and health monitoring of the company databases. Implement data models and database designs, data access and table maintenance codes; resolves database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication, and other distributed (Disaster Recovery) data issues.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Install, configure and maintain Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2005. Design, implement and maintain database objects. Review the database objects developed by the application owners for performance and integrity. Carry out performance/health monitoring and tuning. Establish Backup/restore database policies. Establish Backup/restore policies and procedures for windows servers. Assist with Disaster Recovery planning. Develop and implement a restore\testing procedure for all company backups. Respond to phone calls for customer support, including off-hours support. Disaster Recovery: knowledge of and experience designing fault tolerant database solutions for disaster recovery, as well as implementing and testing the disaster recovery plan
Qualifications
" 4+ years database administration experience in Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2005.
" General knowledge of Windows Server 2000/2003 including Itanium and x64 processors.
" Good understanding of database design principles.
" Expertise in replication, backup/restore for Disaster Recovery and performance tuning.
" Knowledge of hardware systems, RAID and disk subsystems.
" Ability to proactively identify, troubleshoot and resolve database issues.
" Ability to manage maintenance plan activities including backups, indexing, integrity and consistency checks, etc.
" Properly support all requests and activities into the Support Center management system.
" Good communication skills, oral and written.
" Strong team approach to problem solving |
