The candidate should have:
* sound knowledge and experience in writing perl scripts
* ability to deal and interact with different stakeholders of the project- bioinformaticians, lab directors, scientists etc. who have already developed and own pieces of the existing system.
* good working knowledge in bioinformatics programs and packages
* ability to write shell scripts
* good working knowledge in linux / hp ux and shell commands
* basic background in biology (preferably genetics)
* prior knowledge and experience in working with existing enterprise architectures and large-scale systems in Java
* good documentation skills
* good analytical skills to understand and analyze already written code
* strong debugging and troubleshooting capabilities
