| |
To achieve these goals, the Data Centre Manager's responsibilities would typically include:
Manage IS data centres to best practice and industry standards, including incident and change management
Undertake regular inspections and assessments of the data centres and IT racks hosted in them as part of the operational day-to-day management of the hosting environments
Manage 3rd parties / vendors for provision of hosting and managed services & input into contract negotiations
Capacity management for space (rack and floor space), power and cooling as well as all system and human resources
Creation and maintenance of auditable documents that demonstrate the effective implementation and adherence to data centre best practice and industry standards
Manage the physical security of data centres via process and procedures to meet required security standards and policies
Adherence and compliance to Health & Safety regulations / guidelines in all working practices & installations
Interface with Service Delivery and Support Managers, Applications Managers, Project Managers & Support teams - providing data centre input and direction
Member of the crisis management team for disaster recovery and business continuity
Implementing and influencing strategies and policies that will improve quality and reduce cost of service provisioning

The person required to fulfil this role would require the following minimum educational qualifications and certification:
Bachelors Degree, preferably in Computer Science
Certifications in OS/DB/Networking and other Systems
ITIL + Project Management (PMP or Prince2)

Hands on IT data centre operational knowledge and experience
Strong IT service delivery capabilities
