FULL TIME - Voice Network Engineer
-PURPOSE:
Develop and maintain the efficiency, availability and performance of the CareFirst enterprise voice. This also includes connectivity to external business partners, vendors and ISP**s.
Responsible for engineering and/or analytical tasks and associated with technical areas within the telecom function (e.g., network design, engineering, implementation, diagnostics or operations/user support).
Performs tasks relating to network monitoring, operations, installation, and/or maintenance for all Care First locations with limited assistance from the Lead Telecommunications Engineer. .
The scope of responsibility for this position includes, but is not limited to, the configuration, deployment, testing, maintenance, monitoring, and trouble-shooting of network components to provide a secure, high performance network.
Duties also entail quality assurance and testing of transmission mediums and infrastructure components.
Serves as technical specialist on a functional basis, for the resolution of complex network problems. Experience should include: moves, adds, and changes, fault isolation and resolution, and end-user support. Requires broad knowledge of voice communications systems, dial plans, switching architecture, telephony and wiring.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The incumbent**s accountabilities include but are not limited to:
1. Provides consultative services to end users on large and/or complex project requests. Analyzes, engineers and interprets requests, specifications, service requests and project requests to produce technical specifications and project plans. Translates customer needs into business solutions.
2. Analyzes traffic statistics and trends to determine efficiency of network configuration and peak performance times. Reviews monthly on analysis and makes recommendations for changes as needed.
