Reporting to the Ops OV Manager, the Unix/NT OpenView NOC Systems Administrator will be responsible for managing multiple OpenView servers on Unix and NT plus managing the integration and additional monitoring tools automation.
The successful candidate must have proven skills and a strong understanding of OpenView in a DIM configuration and in-depth experience with managing the configuration files on both NT and Unix Platforms. Extensive experience with the UNIX OVO monitoring agent and with data networking technology including routers, Ether switch, and distributed applications systems running on Microsoft operating systems and Unix. Extensive Perl Scripting experience also required. Other requirements include knowledge of telephony network, such as T1**s and TDM based telephone switching equipment, experience with network management systems and diagnostic tools, such as Concord Communications, Visual Networks Uptime and experience with HP/Compaq Insight Manager, and Dell Open Manage highly desirable. Must have strong knowledge of the Sun Solaris, HPUX operating system, Oracle Database and Utilities, SQL and Utilities and Microsoft Windows family of operating systems. Special Requirements: The NOC provides 24 by 7 coverage and the Unix/NT OpenView NOC Systems Administrator may be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Equivalent certificate from a trade school in addition to four to six years experience in managing 4-6 UNIX and NT OpenView platforms.
