System Administration on Solaris and Linux Servers
* Working with GemStone database
* Configuration of new Servers
Required Skills:
- 3-5 years Solaris System Admin experience
- Linux System Administration
- Solid understanding of a UNIX-based operating system; understand paging and swapping, inter-process communication, devices and what device drivers do, filesystem concepts (inode, RAID, logical volume management).
- Experience debugging/resolving realtime Production issues.
- Experience with network storage solutions (NIS, SAN, Fiber Channel, iSCSI).
- Experience of supporting database installations under Unix
- Comfortable with most aspects of Unix operating system administration
(ex.: configuration of mail systems, system installation and configuration, printer systems, fundamentals of security, installing third-party software, etc.)
- Proficiency in host security (e.g. passwords, uids/gids, file permissions, ACLs, filesystem integrity, use of security packages).
- Solid experience in shell scripting, awk.
- Experience with complex TCP/IP networks (containing routers, switches, VLANs).
