Project Details

Title : Donor binding energy in
a quantum dot.

Description : The Binding energy of a
hydrogenic donor in a GaAs spherical quantum dot
in the Ga1-xAlxAs matrix are presented assuming
parabolic and cubical confinement. The impurities
in semiconductors affect the optical and transport
properties. We have studied how the ionization
energy varies with the dot radius (for different
compositions) for the Ga1-x AlxAs system under
parabolic confinement and it was observed that the
ionization energies decreases when the dot radius
increases going through a peak in a infinite
barrier problem. The deformation correction which
arise due to difference in radii between the host
and impurity, worked out within a simple
model,with the help of fortran programming, give
results in agreement with the result of earlier
investigations. The present work shows that the
deformation correction increases with the impurity
concentrations.
