The University of Pennsylvania is delighted to announce its summer intensive language and culture program to teach Hindi to high school students. This program is funded by STARTALK, which is the national effort to enhance Americans' learning and teaching of less commonly taught languages in high schools. This Penn program is unique, and uses STARTALK funds to offer scholarships to participants who meet the criteria. Students will have the opportunity to choose either a non-credit or for-credit option for the Summer Hindi Program. Those who choose the for-credit option will receive a University of Pennsylvania credit for the three-week intensive course. Prior knowledge or exposure to the language is not a prerequisite for this program. The program participants will benefit from being taught by highly distinguished Penn faculty members, graduate students and other experts. Field trips, cultural activities and films are part of each program, and snacks will be provided daily. This will be an excellent opportunity for students to receive an embedded experience of university life at an Ivy League institution. It will also help demonstrate wide interests on their college applications and resumes, and enable them to compete more effectively for jobs and other opportunities in an increasingly global world.
