NCPA Select presents THE LAST TALE, a play in Punjabi. It is about a woman named Bihaag, who has been murdered by her husband Udav three days into their marriage. After death, in a narrative memorial, they re-emerge and speak, as the dead, of things that they could not when they were alive. In this space between memory and mourning, they begin to find their voices and tell their stories. The Last Tale was the outcome of workshops and improvisations around Punjabi love stories, ancient songs of mourning, loss and forgiveness, Shakespearean tragedies and Toni Morrison's Desdemona. It has been put together as a narrative by Dr. Surjit Pattar.
