Rabindranath Tagore Centre, ICCR, Kolkata presents in its Horizon Series USHA, a choreographic presentation in Mohiniattam exploring the Usha and Ratri Suktas of Rg Ved by Natyanova Performing Arts Centre. And MHARO PRANAM, guest performance by Nicole Cox, a Fulbright Scholar trained in Kathak by Kumudini Lakhia. Usha is praised in the Rgveda as the Goddess removing darkness, as the one who wakes up the one who is sleeping or Ratri, beautiful dancer and energising warrior woman; one who bestows prosperity, spreading light through the end of her garment, connecting earth to the regions above. Natyanova Performing Arts Centre is a leading repertory in Mohiniattam, spearheaded by Priyadarshini Ghosh as Artistic Director and Mohana Iyer as Associate Director.
