Toronto's Pleiades Theatre has commissioned Hari Krishnan to choreograph SHAKUNTALA, a 5th century Indian masterpiece of world theatre. Shakuntala is an epic love story of Shakespearean proportions. The classic recounts the tale of King Dushyanta falling in love with young, beautiful Shakuntala, their innocent courtship, the trial of fate cruelly separating and eventually reuniting them in eternal love. Poetic and deeply human, this story takes us on a magnificent, emotion-filled journey that is profound and far-reaching. This modern adaptation marks the first professional production of Shakuntala in Canada, and is helmed by director Charles Roy.
The play opens on February 5 and runs until the 15th at the Fleck Dance Theatre (Harbourfront Centre) in Toronto.
