Aahaarya held the opening of preliminary competitions in Indian classical dance, music and Sanskrit. An opening of title music on Swara thandavam was followed by Sanskrit slokas. 57 contestants participated in these three categories. Aahaarya has set Dec 11 to hold an additional similar event. The winners from both locations (Maryland and Virginia) will be combined and advanced to next levels. Contestants from Maryland location will not be able to compete again in these preliminaries. Aahaarya takes pleasure in acknowledging the openness, sincerity, and integrity shown by the judges: Dr. Dhan Kalvakolanu, Surya Maruvada and Sobhana Ayalasomayajula.
