| The House of Representatives of the US state of Pennsylvania passed a resolution on Thursday condemning last year's Mumbai terror attacks as an attempt to "trigger sectarian unrest in the largest pluralistic democracy" of the world.
The resolution, sponsored by Assemblyman Rick Taylor, was passed by a vote of 192-0 in a House of 203 members, and it offered tribute to the "courage and determination" of the many who made sacrifices in service of freedom and democracy.
The resolution was co-sponsored by another 34 State lawmakers. Pennsylvania is the third US State after New Jersey and New York to pass a resolution against the Mumbai attack.
By maintaining peace between communities, India managed to defeat the purpose of terrorists, Indian Ambassador to US Meera Shankar said in her speech to the Pennsylvania Assembly.
Observing that Mumbai showed that its spirit cannot be cowed down by such acts, Shankar said international solidarity is required in facing such challenges.
