The US President Barack Obama has met former US president Bill Clinton who secured the release of two imprisoned US nationals in North Korea during his recent visit to the country.
Clinton briefed Obama at White House on Tuesday afternoon, on his recent visit to North Korea wherein he secured the release of the two female journalists, who were serving imprisonment in the country.
“President Obama met Clinton in the Situation Room for nearly forty minutes to thank him in person for undertaking the humanitarian mission to secure the release of two American citizens who had been detained by North Korea for over four months,” the White House said in a statement.
"Clinton described the process, including a meeting with Kim Jong-il that culminated in the North Korean leadership granting ‘special amnesty’ to the two journalists and permitting them to return to the United States,” the statement said.
