Diplomacy by proxy is what the US is targetting. Worries about Islamists, increasing aggressiveness and bad work habits have made the Americans tom-tom the impeccable record of Indians abroad by the US administration to Pakistanis living there. And, as a corollary, there will be improvements in the relations between the US and the countries in the sub-continent.
The Obama Administration has asked Pakistani-Americans to emulate Indian-Americans in improving relations between Pakistan and the US just like the latter are instrumental in taking Indo-US ties to a higher level in recent years.
"The Pakistani diaspora in the US can play important role in improving US-Pak relations, just as the Indian diaspora in this country already play a very affirmative role in terms of strengthening bonds between our two countries," Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs P J Crowley told reporters
