| Gujarat cop claims Ishrat Jahan encounter was fake

| In a development that marks a serious rift within the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the 2004 Ishrat Jahan encounter case, one of the members, Satish Verma has said that the encounter was fake.
Verma, a Gujarat-cadre IPS officer is one of the members of the SIT team appointed by the Supreme Court to look into the controversial encounter.
Verma filed an affidavit in the Gujarat High Court stating that there was evidence to indicate that Ishrat and her accomplices had been killed by the cops in cold blood
Verma, incidentally shares a difference of opinion with his fellow SIT members over the appointment of an amicus curiae for the case.
