A US pastor, who burnt a Quran last month at his small church in Florida, has described as "very tragic" the killing of eight UN workers in northern Afghanistan by an armed mob during a demonstration against his act, while shrugging off responsibility for the brutal attack.
"We do not feel responsible, no," Pastor Terry Jones told ABC News last evening after the attack on a UN compound in Mazar-i-Sharif that killed 12 people, including the staff of the world body.
The attack took place during a demonstration by hundreds of people against the burning of the Quran by the pastor's church, Dove Outreach Centre, in Florida.
The pastor said the killing of the UN workers was "very tragic".
CNN has, however, decided not to air its interview with the pastor, which it felt was "too hateful".
The UN and US have condemned the killing of the UN workers in Afghanistan
