Considered to be a 'hands-on' MP, with a laptop always a part of his personal things, and a personality of an upcoming executive, Mr Deora is expected to continue in the same vein as the minister of state for communications and information technology.
At a time when youthfulness is back in the reckoning - nearly 25 years after the late Rajiv Gandhi first personified it - Mr Deora effectively fits the bill, along with his education in business administration, followed by a course in the US.
A person who is at ease with the poorest of poor mill workers to the head honchos of multi-national corporations who live and work in his VIP constituency of Mumbai South, Mr Deora is expected to handle his new responsibility with the same passion.
He joined politics at his father's prodding when he was just in his early-20s.
