Prime Minister Narendra Modi is shifting the debate from black economy to cashless economy following demonetisation, Delhi's ruling AAP said on Monday.
At a "public dialogue" on the issue at Connaught Place in New Delhi, Aam Aadmi Party leader Dilip Pandey said the demonetisation move had turned from a "Tughlaki farman" to a "Talibani farman".
"More than seven dozen people have died due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's announcement to spike 500 and 1,000 rupee notes," he said.
In the wake of an unprecedented cash chaos across the country, PM Modi was now trying to shift the debate from black economy to cashless economy, the AAP leader said.
"But when people have no cash in their pockets, the economy will naturally turn into a cashless economy. Is that what our Prime Minister is trying to achieve?" Mr Pandey asked at a gathering of hundreds wearing 'aam aadmi' caps. The crowd included AAP MLAs.
