IIT Admissions 2017: Supreme Court Halts JEE Advanced Counselling

he Supreme Court on Friday ordered a halt to further counselling and admissions to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) in respect of JEE (Advanced) exam. The apex court restrained IITs across the country till further orders from conducting counselling or admitting students subsequent to the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) this year, reported Press Trust of India.
A bench of Justices Dipak Misra and A M Khanwilkar also restrained the High Courts from entertaining any writ petition relating to counselling and admissions to the IITs from today onwards.
According to Press Trust of India, the Supreme Court also sought details of the petitions pending before the High Courts across the country and the number of petitions challenging the IIT-Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) 2017 rank list, and awarding of additional marks to all candidates who had appeared in the test which was held for admissions to IITs and NITs.
