Indian team manager Sanjay Jagdale's report will back Greg Chappell's assesment that senior players in the team did undermine Rahul Dravid's position, sources have told NDTV. Jagdale will submit his report to the BCCI on April 6.
Meanwhile, some BCCI members have also backed Chappell's report that said senior players in the team insisted that India bats first in the match against Bangladesh.
They pressed for it to get batting practice even though captain Rahul Dravid and coach Greg Chappell wanted to put Bangladesh in to bat on a seaming wicket. It is, however, unclear why Chappell and Dravid succumbed to this pressure.
According to sources, Jagdale's report also mentions that Dravid felt pressured by the ppresence of two former captains in the team when making decisions.
In fact, sources have also told NDTV that Dravid will continue as Captain, but that chappell's days as coach are numbered. And while that may in some way's placate certain senior players in the team, it might not be enough to get the Men in Blue back on track.
But other sources have told NDTV that Chappell is creating a smokescreen to dodge the blame for the fiasco in the West Indies.
Sources also said that Chappell had accepted the team given to him for the World Cup, signed on the paper and not said a word about it being a bad one.
