The High Court in Delhi on Monday said the Union Public Service Commission should make available cut off marks and scores of civil service exam candidates.
Upholding an order passed by the Central Information Commission in November 2006, the court said the UPSC must be more transparent.
More than 2000 students who took the exam last year filed RTIs to try and make the procedure more trasnparent.
Till now only successful candidates are informed on clearing the first round. Every year over 1.5 lakh students appear for the civil services examination.
"There has been reasons which have given rise to doubts about the system and therefore it is important to find out the truth," says UPSC aspirant Don Sunil.
The High court has validated the stand taken by the CIC saying that information must be shared by the UPSC.
Students are hoping that this will help make transparent the examination system which is responsible for selecting some of the senior most bureaucrats in the country.
