| Ahead of a critical meeting between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and US President George W Bush at the G 8 Summit in Germany, it is now looking increasingly unlikely that India and US will wrap up the nuclear deal negotiations before that as they had earlier hoped.
Sources say serious differences still remain to be sorted out.
The Ministry of External Affairs has said on record that during technical talks in London over the last two days, both sides agreed more work is required to bridge the remaining gap.
It is now looking increasingly unlikely that the US pointsman for the deal, US Undersecretary Nicholas Burns will come to India to wrap things up before the G 8 Summit.
