| Taking their hard stance in Karnataka a little further, the BJP has withdrawn support to the JD(S) government in the state.
The development follows days of upheaval after the JD(S) refused to stand by their power sharing agreement with the BJP.
Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy was supposed to hand over the reins to his deputy and BJP leader BS Yediyuurappa after 20 months.
But the JD(S) led by former prime minister Deve Gowda refused to let go.
''This is the worst ever political betrayal by a political party,'' said Venkaiah Naidu, Leader, BJP.
''Karnataka will never forgive JD(S) for the betrayal,'' he added.
BJP leaders will go to Bangalore today to meet Governor Rameshwar Thakur in this regard.
''We were betrayed by JD(S),'' said Yashwant Sinha, senior leader, BJP.
The date of the handover of power was supposed to be October 3, after which the BJP decided they were not going to negotiate with the JDS.
The JD(S) too has refused to blink, both parties believing they will gain from the polls.
Meanwhile, the Congress said they will take a decision only after the BJP formally withdraw support.
