| A new traffic arrangement involving one-way restrictions on many stretches of T. Nagar and a ban on entry of autorickshaws and goods transport vehicles for most part of the day will come into force on Saturday.
As per the plan, autorickshaws will not be allowed towards Pothys Junction, near Panagal Park, from Venkatnarayana Road–Nageswara Road junction between noon and 9 p.m. For goods transport vehicles, entry into T. Nagar would be barred between noon and 9 p.m.
Those coming in cars and vans would be allowed up to T. Nagar Club on Venkatnarayana Road; up to Pondy Bazaar police station on Thyagaraya Road; up to Dhandapani Street on Burkit Road; up to Muthurangan Salai on South Usman Road; and near Venkateswara Kalyana Mandapam at the Prakasam Road–G.N.Chetty Road junction.
The police have already announced one-way restrictions on several stretches in view of the ongoing work on flyovers in T. Nagar and the ensuing festival season. Doraisamy Road will be made one-way with entry allowed from Pothys Junction, but barred from the Brindavan Street junction. All buses operated by colleges and private companies entering South Usman Road would be diverted towards South West Boag Road. They would have to take South and North Boag Roads to reach their destinations. Buses from Venkatnarayana Road would not be permitted to enter Burkit Road.
All autorickshaws, including share autorickshaws, from Burkit Road to the Madley roundabout would be diverted towards Kannammapet at the Burkit Road-South Dhandapani Street junction.
