Another senior citizen attacked in
A lunch on Wednesday, prepared by his new cook led to disastrous consequences for Major KC Anand.
 INDIA , 1-March-2008  2:9:0 AM
For the second time in three months, a senior citizen in Greater Kailash-I has been attacked by domestic help. A retired army officer, who has lived alone for 3 years, hired a new cook and three days ago, was allegedly poisoned by him. The major was hospitalised but is now back at home.

A lunch on Wednesday, prepared by his new cook led to disastrous consequences for Major KC Anand.

''On Wednesday, I was served food by my other help. There was nothing wrong in the food till then I had gone up to my terrace. I don't remember when I fainted,'' said Major K C Anand (Retd), victim.

The two other domestic helpers had also eaten the same meal. Major Anand's new cook robbed the house and disappeared. His daughter lives in another country but the major is convinced she saved his life.

''My daughter had called from Dubai, I don't know but I said something to her in a semi-conscious state. She sensed something wrong. Luckily, she had the number of the SHO of GK. She then called him up,'' said Major K C Anand.

The major said that he is meticulous about having his staff verified by the police but the new cook was a friend of one of his old staff members. So, the senior citizen relaxed his usual strict standards.

''It takes time for one to assess whether the help is worthy or not. I know about the procedures and was going to get his police verification done,'' said Anand.

Now, the police is questioning the other members of Major Anand's staff to see if they conspired in the attack against him.
