Rangoli Dance Company presents NARMADA: GIFTS OF THE RIVER (2011 Premiere)
Twelve extraordinary dance makers have been invited to perform at the 10th edition of the Los Angeles Dance Invitational at the John Anson Ford Theatres on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011. Rangoli Dance Company is honored to be a part of the celebrations.
Choreography: Malathi Iyengar, Dancers: Lakshmi Iyengar & Sandhya Rajan
Music: Rajkumar Bharathi, Lighting Design: Eileen Cooley
(Nattuvangam: Malathi Iyengar, Vocal: Nandakumar Unnikrishnan, Mridangam: Gurumurthy G., Morsing: Srihari Rangaswamy, Violin: Embar Kannan, & Flute: Prakash Hegde)
Yvonne Mounsey, the legendary ballet dance teacher and director of the Westside Ballet School in Santa Monica, principal dancer for George Balanchine and the New York City Ballet, as well as Massine’s Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo and de Basil’s original Ballet Russe, will accept the Stanley Holden Award for Distinguished Teaching.
Ten of the twelve 2011 invitees are from the Los Angeles area, and two are traveling from New York City to make their Los Angeles and California debuts.
