Melakartha scheme of raga classification with improvisational vocal techniques (alapana) in some of them including the Ragas Panthuvarali and Bhairavi will be taught. Students will also learn a kriti of Shri Muthuswamy Dhikshithar in the raga Hindolam and a ragamalika piece using Kurinji, Punnaagavarali, Nadanamakriya and Sindhubhairavi exploring the different rhythm (tala) patterns along the way.
