Queens Theatre in the Park's Asian Cultural Festival, now in its third year, is a weeklong celebration and includes 9 artists/companies in performances taking place from Wednesday, April 19 through Sunday, April 22, 2007.
Some of the highlights this year are Celebrating Asian Singers on Broadway conducted by Maestro Michael Dadap with alumni & faculty of the Children’s Orchestra Society in the Opening Night, Kun Yang Lin/Dancers, who is one of Taiwan's finest choreographers, Undesirable Elements created by theatrical innovator Ping Chong featuring the real people telling their personal experiences of creating a cultural identity out of a rich and complex heritage, and the concert performed by the 10-year-old piano prodigy Nui Nui (the Lang Lang of the future) who recently performed with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and the genius young vionlinist Joo Young Oh.
Besides, Desipina & Co. -Seven 11 Convenience Theatre from Southern Asia presenting seven eleven-minute plays, all set in a convenience store, are ingeniously woven together.
