The first half will be a jugalbandhi or duet between the sarode, the classical 25-stringed Indian fretless lute (Annette Bauer) and the oud, a 12 stringed fretless Arabic lute (Derek Wright). Both of these artists have been students at the Ali Akbar College of Music for many years, and have performed numerous jugalbandhi concerts featuring the teachings and compositions of their guru, the great maestro Ali Akbar Khansahib. They will be accompanied by Javad Butah on tabla, a disciple of Pandit Anindo Chaterajee. The second half of the program will feature Manose on the bansuri. Manose is a master bamboo flute player from Nepal, who has spent many years studying classical and folk traditions from both Nepal and India. He will also be accompanied by Javad Butah on tabla.
