Celtic Music & Solo Bach by Michael Braudy with Eric Phinney on Tabla
Classical Indian ragas, solo Bach and Celtic airs, jigs and reels are woven together, each complementing the other. Included will be a Tabla solo accompanied by violin.
Michael Braudy is a violinist experienced in Western, North Indian and Celtic music who has taught music and meditation for over 30 years. He has collaborated with poets, storytellers and dancers, in theater and mime, and performs and offers workshops in the U.S. and abroad. Michael has performed at the Jaipur International Festival in Rajasthan, India, and the American Center in Calcutta. He studied Violin with Raphael Bronstein and Dorothy Delay and Indian music with Acharya Roop Verma, Pandit V.G. Jog, and Debaprasad and Sulaya Banerjee.
Eric Phinney is a percussionist who has performed with classical ensembles around the world, including with The Silk Road Project, Yo Yo Ma at the Smithsonian Institution, and the Ethos Percussion Group at Carnegie Hall and London's Wigmore Hall. He holds a Master's degree in classical percussion performance from Manhattan School of Music, and studied North Indian Tabla under Pandit Sharda Sahai of the Benares Gharana and Pandit Samir Chatterjee of the Farrukhabad Gharana. Eric is a member of Chhandayan, an Indian musical organization based in New Jersey and Calcutta.
