The Sangati Center is organizing a Music Concert
Featuring:
Mitch Marcus - tenor saxophone, clarinet
Sylvain Carton - flutes, guitar
Eric Garland - drums
Eric Vogler - upright bass
Gautam Tejas Ganeshan - violin
Sameer Gupta - tabla
Mitch Marcus returns with this six-man ensemble for another performance at the Sangati Center. Featuring members of his main performing group, the Mitch Marcus Quintet, all of whom are staples of bay area improvised music, in addition to guest artists Sameer Gupta and Gautam Tejas Ganeshan, the group will perform original music, with ample room for the improvisational ability of all of the performers.
Mitch Marcus, performer, composer, and arranger, makes use of various styles of music by blending improvisation with creative use of melody, harmony, and rhythm. He founded the Mitch Marcus Quintet in 1999. From post-apocalyptic jazz to scintillating trance hypnotism, the Mitch Marcus Quintet delivers a unique brand of original music, taking you through a labyrinth of ever-shifting textures.
