New Yorkers on the hunt for the best events on the Manhattan nightlife scene have a tantalizing new happening to add to their social calendar: "BANGLES AND BACKBEATS," an ongoing live music and DJ dance party that will make its debut on Thursday, January 31st at the Canal Room. "Indie Hindi" chanteuse Falu, a classically trained Indian vocalist blending the Hindi vibe with inventive rock, will headline the first BANGLES AND BACKBEATS with her band of NYC musicians. Not only can she tear up the rock clubs in downtown Manhattan, but Falu also serves as one of Carnegie Hall's Music Ambassadors to NYC. Falu recently teamed up with Wyclef Jean to lend her unique vocal styling to the score of Angelina Jolie's documentary A Place in Time, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival last spring. Additionally, Falu just wrapped on a recording project with DJ Logic. In addition to featuring songs off of Falu's debut album, the night will include a very special set by DJ Rekha, a musician instrumental in introducing the sounds of Bhangra and British Asian music to North America.
