Bandhani'' is said to be symbolic of girlhood, love and marital happiness. The most intricate and refined ''bandhani'' is made in Saurashtra and Kachi. Known for its embroidery work of Bhuj, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar and Ahmedabad. In Gujarat decorating the house is a ritual, specially the doorway as it is the owner''s heart. Hand crafted roof coverings, canopies, ''Chandrarvas'', are prominent of Gujarat. Gujarati Jewellery is rather of a heavy style, and is angular in design. Quality jewellery is made in Deesa in North Gujarat and Rajkot. These puppets are vibrantly coloured and beautifully hand painted. Artistic lacquer work, a well known craft of Gujarat, is concentrated in the Baroda district.
